
Carol Lynley (born Carole Ann Jones 13 February 1942 - September 3, 2019) was an American actress, best known for her roles in the films Blue Denim (1959) and The Poseidon Adventure (1972).Lynley was born in Manhattan to an Irish father and New England mother. Her first job was as a child model , before beginning to pursue acting. She was awarded the Theatre World Award as "one of the most promising personalities for 1956-57" for her role in The Potting Shed. Lynley began her career in film in the year 1958 with the Disney film The Light in the Forest. The film was followed by Holiday for Lovers (1959), and Blue Denim (1959). In her movie The Light in the Forest Lynley was nominated in 1959 for the Golden Globe Award. The following year, she was nominated again for the Golden Globe Award as Most Promising Female Newcomer.
