JoyceDeWitt started performing on stage at the age of 13. At 13 she began performing on stage. She received an undergraduate degree from Ball State University. The director encouraged her to apply for UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program. In the program, she was awarded the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship and the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt declared that she never met Abe Vigoda during her time at UCLA. The role she played by DeWitt as Janet Wood in Three's Company's 1977-1984 period is among her most famous. She was part of the pilot of the show, and then recruited. Janet was also in an episode of the show The Ropers in which she starred in in 1979. DeWitt was the final actor to be featured in the show's 1984 finale. She then appeared in an episode on Finder of Lost Lovers in 1984. Following that she ceased acting for many years. She resumed acting with a part in an episode of Noises Off at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse in June 1991. [1] She also appeared in Spring Fling, a 1995 TV comedy. Pinky and the Brain featured a character that was modelled on her voice by another actress in 1997. She appeared in the episode Cybill and made an appearance on the last episode of Living Single. [6] Some of her television appearances in the 2000s include Hope Island and The Nick at Nite Holiday Special as and Call of the Wild.
